At Durley House Nursery and Learning, we understand that starting a new setting is a big step for both children and their families. Whether it’s your child’s first time away from home or a new chapter in their early years journey, we’re here to make the transition as gentle, positive and nurturing as possible.
At Durley House Nursery and Learning, we take time to build strong, trusting relationships with each child and their family. Our experienced team works closely with you to understand your child’s routines, preferences and comfort items, so they feel safe, seen and supported from day one.
Free Settling in Sessions
To help your child ease into nursery life, we offer two free 1 hour settling in sessions before their official start date. These sessions give your child the chance to explore their new environment at their own pace, meet their key person and begin forming secure attachments – all with you nearby for reassurance.
We will use this time too:
- Learn about your child’s routines, likes and comforts
- Introduce them to the indoor and outdoor space
- Begin building warm, trusting relationships with their key person
- Answer any questions you may have as a parent or carer.
If your child needs more time to settle, we’ll work with you to create a flexible, personalised plan that supports their emotional wellbeing.
Our agricultural nursery offers a calm, sensory-rich environment where children can connect with nature, animals and the rhythms of the seasons. From cuddling animals to planting seeds, these hands-on learning experiences help children feel grounded, curious and confident in their new surroundings.
We know that every child is unique, and we’re committed to making their start at Durley House Nursery and Learning a joyful and secure one for them and for you.
