Everyday is a new opportunity to explore, discover and grow at Durley House Nursery and Learning.

In our Over 2s room, children are supported to follow their interests, express themselves and build friendships through play, nature and hands on farm experiences.

We are open 8:00-5:00 with an additional half an hour of extended care until 5:30 for families who need that little bit of extra time.

At Durley House Nursery, children in our Over 2s are supported to become confident, curious learners through meaningful experiences rooted in nature, community, and care. Whether they’re planting seeds, feeding goats, or dancing in the rain, every moment is an opportunity to grow.

Our bespoke agricultural curriculum gives children a deep connection to the land, animals and seasonal rhythms of outside learning!

It’s a joyful, muddy and exciting day at Durley House Nursery and Learning!

Our Day

8:00-9:00 – Arrival and Breakfast

Children are welcomed with a friendly face, cuddles and a safe and stimulating environment. We ask that parents bring their child’s breakfast with them when they arrive in the morning and this will be served in a cosy, homely setting, with familiar adults supporting feeding routines and encouraging independence. This is a gentle time for starting the day, sharing smiles and preparing for all the fun and excitement the day will bring.

9:00-12:00

Children will gather with the practitioners to share ideas, interests and intentions. Using visual prompts, conversations and play, we create the days adventures together – inside and outside!

A healthy snack is offered to refuel our busy bodies. Children are encouraged to serve themselves, try new tastes and enjoy the social environment of eating together.

Back to exploring, this might include some sensory play with soil, water or sand, building with natural materials, storytelling in our outside space, or imaginative role play in our make-believe farmyard barns. Children may choose to visit our animals, help with feeding them or exploring our garden. Children might collect eggs, water the vegetables or observe some seasonal changes. These experiences build understanding of the world, empathy and responsibility. Adults will support language, movement and emotional expression through responsive interaction.

12:00-1:00

Lunchtime! Lunchtime is a time to relax, connect and share stories. Children will help set the table, serve themselves and enjoy some yummy nourishing food.

1:00-2:30

Children who need a rest are supported to nap in our peaceful, cosy spaces. Others engage in calm activities, like drawing, puzzles or gentle stories. Children will also experience our sensory room or have a gentle swim in our hydro pool with qualified teachers.

2:30-4:00

As energy returns, children will head out to explore again – perhaps to dig in the garden, observe the weather or care for the animals. These experiences will support physical development, curiosity and a strong connection to nature.

4:00-5:00

A light tea is served for all the children, followed by time to reflect on the day. Children will share discoveries, revisit favourite moments and begin to wind down with stories, songs and quiet play.

5:00-5:30

For families arriving later, we offer a calm, comforting end to the day. Children enjoy cuddles, stories and gentle play as they prepare for home time.
